Dr. Phil Higginbotham, our founding orthodontist, began practice in 1973. His years, combined with Dr. Eric Nease, Dr. Gary Horvath, and Dr. Alex Thomas, gives our orthodontists over 100 years experience providing the highest quality of orthodontic care with a personal, family-first approach.

Our long-standing presence in the community, along with our team’s expertise, has earned us the trust of countless families – and we’re so grateful for that!
We’re honored to be able to give back to our community in various ways, including the Nth Degree Orthodontics Health Science Scholarship, where we award eight $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in our community each year. Over the years, we’ve awarded more than $150,000 to our community’s students!
We’re also a proud local partner of Donated Orthodontic Services Program, an arm of American Association of Orthodontists Foundation (AAOF) which provides the connection to top-notch orthodontic treatment for children of families with financial need. (Learn more about this program!)

Our orthodontists are active members of a number of associations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, South Carolina Association of Orthodontists, and more!
Our very own orthodontist, Dr. Alex Thomas, has also made history! In 2020, she was selected as the youngest member of the AAO (American Association of Orthodontists) Board of Trustees. She’s one of only three women who have served on the Board since the organization’s inception in 1900.
Our orthodontists’ combined expertise enables us to offer cutting-edge treatments, including Invisalign® and SPARK™ clear aligners, and Damon® advanced self-ligating braces. By staying up-to-date with industry innovations, we can deliver efficient, effective, and comfortable orthodontic solutions that cater to the diverse needs of our patients!
