Teeth must be removed in order to straighten remaining teeth in a mouth that is overcrowded. If there is simply not enough room to move the teeth into alignment, extraction will be recommended.

Bite Correction

In order to correct a slight or moderate over or underbite, teeth may be able to be removed in order to move teeth to compensate for the problem. When the alternative is jaw surgery, oftentimes a tooth extraction is the preferred way to go.

Impacted Teeth

A patient who has impacted teeth may need to have existing teeth removed in order for the impacted teeth to be brought down into place correctly. Following the extraction, the formerly impacted tooth can have a bracket applied and be aligned along with the rest of the teeth.

Protruding Teeth

When front teeth are pushing out into the lips, surrounding teeth can be removed to slide the front teeth back into place. This correction not only helps to straighten teeth but also to fix the look of a protruding lip.

What are my options?

There are many options available! We offer traditional braces, clear braces, Invisalign and Damon braces. We always work one on one with each patient to determine which option will be the best fit for them.

What do I need to do before getting braces put on?

In the case of overcrowding, patients may need to have a tooth or teeth extracted before braces are put on. Your orthodontist will discuss in detail what will be needed to have done before the braces treatment can begin.

Some of the most requested orthodontic treatments are Invisalign Teen and the Damon braces method. It is wonderful that there are so many options available as every patient requires different treatment plans. Let’s take a look at our 2 most popular options:

Invisalign Teen

Firstly, Invisalign provides the same teeth straightening technology as traditional metal braces without the look and feel of braces! The aligners are clear overlays that are worn over the teeth, slowly adjusting them over time.

Certified orthodontists have access to a 3D device that determines the orthodontic needs of each individual patient. Every 4 to 6 weeks the patient is re-assessed and new aligning overlays are made as needed. The overlays are precisely created to offer the best results in the shortest amount of time. Invisalign braces are comfortable, attractive and effective.

Some of the benefits of Invisalign are:

  • Smooth and comfortable to wear
  • Clear in appearance
  • Able to be removed for brushing and flossing
  • Can be removed while eating or playing sports

Damon System

The Damon braces method is an increasingly popular option for teeth straightening. The number one reason that patients choose Damon is that it alleviates the need for regular in-office adjustments. With the uniquely designed bracket and wire system, Damon wearers do not need to wear rubber bands or metal ligatures.

The Damon System is ideal for those with:

  • Crooked Teeth
  • Teeth Gaps
  • Missing Teeth
  • Crowded Teeth

Some of the benefits of Damon braces are:

  • They are available in clear or traditional
  • They can be less expensive than traditional braces
  • Shorter treatment time than traditional braces
  • More comfortable to wear than traditional braces
