“Not Brushing Correctly”

Tooth brushing is an integral part of dental health whether a person has natural teeth or braces. Many orthodontic customers come to the office with cavities and other dental problems because they do not brush their teeth properly. Such patients indulge in various tooth brushing mistakes that make their mouths susceptible to growing bacteria. The following are some helpful tips that a patient can use to keep his or her teeth in good health before and after a visit to the orthodontic office:

Brush for Two Minutes

The most important thing for people to remember is that they need to brush their teeth for at least two full minutes. The full two minutes allows the fluoride to penetrate the enamel, which increases its effectiveness. Most people do not brush their teeth for a full two minutes.

Brush at an Angle

Brush your teeth on a 45-degree angle to the gums. The angle ensures that the toothbrush massages the gums and cleanses them properly.

Cover All Surfaces

You will need to cover all of the tooth’s’s surfaces during brushing. Tooth brushes should be run over the front and sides of their teeth. You should brush the tongue, cheeks and under surfaces, as well.
